John Gerancher

Throughout his career, he has collaborated on chapters published in Pediatric Trauma Anesthesia and Critical Care, Plastic Surgery, Complications in Anesthesia, and the Textbook of Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management. Additionally, Dr. John Gerancher has published articles in professional journals such as Anesthesiology, Regional Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, and Anesthesia & Analgesia. An invited reviewer for Anesthesiology and Anesthesia & Analgesia journals, he also served as an Associate Editor for Regional Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.

He holds membership in the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, in whose Education Committee and Scientific Program Committee Dr. John Charles Gerancher was heavily involved. He also served as Program Chair for that society’s annual meeting in 2003 and as the Workshop Course Moderator for the annual meeting in 2002. Dr. JC Gerancher spent multiple years as a professor with Wake Forest University for the Department of Anesthesiology. He additionally contributed to the university through participation in the Surgical Care Improvement Committee, the Universal Protocol Committee, the Dean’s Advisory Committee, and the Surgical Services Informatics Steering Committee. John Charles Gerancher, MD, served as Medical Director of Surgical Services Informatics at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Prior to beginning his career, Dr. JC Gerancher studied molecular biology at Haverford College, where he graduated with departmental honors. He then studied medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. Thereafter, he completed an internship in internal medicine, a residency in anesthesiology, and a fellowship in regional anesthesia.
